Moston Brook are enjoying a great season in the Lancashire & Cheshire Amateur Football League as they remain favourites for the Premier Division title.

However, they were beaten in the semi-final of the Lancashire Amateur Cup by Winstanley St Aidans from the Wigan League.

Brook’s hopes were hit as a strong Winstanley team raced into a 3-0 lead after only 15 minutes, and although Brook battled hard, a great run in the competition ended at 4-1.

With the season drawing to a big climax, mid-week games began to catch up with outstanding fixtures.

Irlam Steel Rangers have a huge backlog but they kept up their hopes of catching up Moston Brook with a clinical 6-2 win at Stretford Paddock, and Old Stretfordians were also efficient in a 3-0 win over Salford Vics.

Chadderton Park are hot favourites to lift the Division One title and they kept up their chase with a 4-1 win over Bury Ams.

Division Three was busy with four games and hunting down runaway leaders Dukinfield Athletic are local outfit Santos.

They secured a 9-3 win at Milton reserves.

Santos triumphed in a goal-fest as they led 6-3 at the interval with goals from Ben Marshall (two), David Clegg (two), Ben Winterbottom and Tom Barnes.

Santos increased their lead in the second half with an own goal, before Marshall and Clegg both sealed their hat-tricks.

The other games produced wins for Woodhouses by 2-1 at Bury Ams reserves, and AFC Stockport, 5-2 at Old Strets reserves.
