Royton Road Runners have started the year on an incredible high.

The local athletes kicked off with a triumphant performance at the Daffodil in January.

The club then spectacularly returned to Stockport, conquering the Stockport Trail half Marathon in style.

The ladies' and men's teams triumphed in a display of remarkable athleticism.

The top three finishers for the ladies were Janet Jobey, Kirsty Agnew, and Rochelle Evans, who led Royton Road Runners to secure the win for the ladies' team.

For the men's team, Rob James, Race Winner; Jarrod Gritt, 3rd overall; and club Captain James Henderson, 6th place overall, also won the men's team prize.

There were age category awards for James Henderson (1st MV45), Shane Reading (1st MV50), Bernard Goodwin (1st MV55), Barry Greaves (1st MV65), David Emanuel (1st MV60) and Janet Jobey (1st FV50 and 1st female finisher), while Gail Shaw was 2nd FV55.

An astonishing 47 club members completed the race, making it a clean sweep of team and individual prizes.

This achievement marks the club's most participants in a half marathon since 2018, showcasing the exceptional spirit of our local running community.

Royton Road Runners invites people from all backgrounds and abilities to join their fun and supportive running community.

Whether you're aiming for personal bests, exploring new courses, or simply enjoying the camaraderie, they welcome all levels of runners.
