Shaw’s undefeated professional boxer Tom Rafferty has his 12th professional contest, and second bout of 2024, this Saturday, April 27.

Rafferty's bout will feature on Pat Barrett’s Black Flash Promotions show at Manchester’s Bowlers Exhibition Centre, themed as 'Ring Warriors Unleashed'.

Rafferty hopes that 2024 will be ‘the busiest of years’, with possibly five potential contests establishing him as a contender for area title fights later in the year.

‘This will be my sixth six-round bout," said Rafferty.

"And I’m planning to move to eight rounds for the next one.

"Area title fights are ten rounds so that’s my ambition and of course at some future point the gruelling 12-rounder for a national title every boxer wants."

In his last bout in February, father of two Rafferty scored a points victory over Ukrainian boxer Serhii Ksendov, leading to him now being ranked 21st out of 81 UK boxers at super middleweight.

"As always, I’m grateful to my team, such as my physio Joe Ellidge who does a great job keeping me injury free," added Rafferty.

"I couldn’t accomplish anything without my sponsors and the many local people who support me by purchasing tickets.

"In return I promise to do my best to confirm Oldham’s place as a home of top-class boxers.

"My brother Jack holds a Commonwealth silver title and I aim to bring a title belt to Shaw quite soon."
