GOLF ROUND-UP: It was a nerve-jangling finish for Oldham GC Gems in a Three Man Texas Scramble.
A cpo on 35.00 went in favour of Peter Dransfield, Alvin Patten and Allan Frost from John Baines, Geoff Beard and Dave Taylor, and hot on their heels with 27.25 were Chris Jones, Keith Jackson and Peter Schofield.
The Team Twos winners were Chris Jones, Keith Jackson and Charlie Middlewood.
Crompton and Royton ladies played round one of the Captain’s competition and it was won by Jean Clark 70 from Jennifer Kenworthy and Andrea Lowe, both 71 and Jacqueline Conboy was the nine-hole winner with 37.
A Pro’s Stableford at C and R was led in by Michael Mojhun 39 one more than John Jones and Jack Knightley.
Round two of the Vice Captain’s Trophy at Saddleworth was won by Tom Fleming 67, two less than AE Edwards, Charles Hanson and Michael Noble.
The Aggregate winner was AE Entwistle 139 from Michael Noble 140 and Mark Orme 141.
A Bb Stableford at Saddleworth had N Kippax and A Flanagan on top with 43 from M Orme and W Potts 41 and E Hall and M Keaney who won a cpo on 40
A Stableford at Saddleworth saw Matthew Chapman win in a cpo on 37 from JJ Fancy, one more than R Heap and S Potts.
A nine-hole Stableford for Saddleworth ladies saw BH Shuttleworth lead in with 17, one more than Jenny Knight.
