SS Aidan and Oswald’s are up there with the elite

SS Aidan and Oswald’s RC Primary school enjoyed a unique double celebration after achieving the prestigious Platinum Award for Investors in People and, shortly afterwards, an outstanding grade across the board in their Section 48 school inspection.

A celebration event was attended by Shaun Murphy, one of the few professional snooker stars to hold the triple crown (World Champion, UK Champion, and Champion of Champions) and Simon Smith, the Diocese of Salford’s Director of Education.

Investors in People is the leading standard for people management and the school has achieved the highest accolade with the new Platinum standard.

Less than 1% of organisations who work with Investors in People are being awarded this highest level of accreditation and this places the school in an elite group.

In the past 25 years over 100,000 organisations have used Investors in People worldwide, as it is a highly respected standard for leading, managing and supporting the staff workforce.

The Section 48 inspection report says the school ‘continues to shine and to achieve beyond outstanding in providing the best of the best in a happy, caring Catholic community’.

Murphy told the staff: "This is the fourth time that I have shared a major celebration with the school, and to witness SS Aidan and Oswald’s move from strength to strength is excellent.

"I make presentations a lot, but rarely return – so my congratulations for these amazing achievements, but also for doing so well over so many years."

On behalf of Salford Diocese, Mr Smith explained how both of these achievements recognise the school’s dedication to investing in both the children and the staff as an outstanding Catholic school, and ‘that this is not only a celebration for the school, but for Salford Diocese too’.

Mr Harrison, the headteacher, at the presentation award, thanked the staff for their utmost dedication to the children and their willingness to go the extra mile.

The children will be enjoying a special treat - as their excellent behaviour was also recognised in the inspection.
