Could you give these old age pooches their furry-tail endings?

Staff at Dogs Trust Manchester are hoping National Grandparents Day on Sunday (October 7) will prove every dog really does have its day.

They are searching for homes for two very special Old Age Pooches (OAP) who have found themselves without their forever homes through no fault of their own.

At the grand old age of 12, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Dodger, is now looking for a retirement home where he can rest his paws, and his eight-year-old canine companion Jack, also a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, is hoping to find his special someone in time for the special day too.

Dawn Bishop, Dogs Trust Manchester Rehoming Centre Manager, said: “It’s especially sad when older dogs come to us and Dodger and Jack really deserve to find their special someone.

"They both came to us after a change in their families’ circumstances meant they could no longer look after them.

“Sometimes older dogs spend more time with us than younger dogs but there are so many advantages to having an older dog.

"They often need less exercise but are as much fun, they’re used to living in a home and their personality is already shaped so new owners can really understand and appreciate the dog that they are welcoming into their family.”

The team say Dodger is a cheeky chap who loves life despite his advancing years.

He enjoys a nice walk and loves a fuss and adores spending time with his fellow four-legged friends when he’s out and about.

Jack (pictured below) is hoping to sniff out a forever home where he can get all the TLC he deserves.

He loves to play with his toys and would like a secure garden to play in when he’s not heading off on adventures with his new family.

Dawn said: “National Grandparents Day gives us the chance to put our golden oldies in the spotlight and we’re hoping this weekend sees Dodger and Jack’s special someone visit the centre and see that they’ll make the perfect addition to their families.”

Dodger is looking for a calm, quiet home to live out his golden years and Jack would like to be at the heart of an active family who are around a lot of the time as he doesn’t like to be left home alone.

Jack can’t live with cats but both of these Older Age Pooches can live with children aged 11 years and over.

They would like to be the only dogs in their new homes so they can lap up all the love.
