Clarksfield residents make a big impact thanks to their big clean-up

Residents worked with the Clarksfield Community Group and other partner organisations as they cleaned up their alleyways
Local residents from Tynwald Street, Ronald Street and Bridson Street in Clarksfield got together to have a big clean up of their back alleyways.
Residents were fed up with the state of their alleyways, particularly with littering and fly-tipping issues.
Leaflets were posted and doors were knocked on to make residents aware of the clean-up.
Arfan Zar, a local resident and member of the Clarksfield Community Group, led the initiative.
He said: "We want our back alley way to look nice and clean so our children can play in a safe and clean environment, and we want it to be a place we can be proud of.
"We want this to be a part of a broader project in the local area where people look at the work we have done and how the alleyway has ended up as a platform and benchmark.
"This, we hope, will then get residents from other streets active and involved and they can do the same.
"We are willing to help and guide with this.
"This will hopefully lead to a legacy where we all do our bit for our streets and area, and something the younger people can take forward and be proud of.
"It was great to see so many residents turn out and help and take pride in their alleyway."
Local residents worked together with the Clarksfield Community Group and other partner organisations, including Oldham Council, IF Oldham, Big Local Oldham and Action Together.
