Oldham Edge hub aims to build creativity, confidence and credibility
“Social media is part of everyday life and it can be powerful. But we all know it can also be detrimental for some people. What we want to do is bring things back to being real, real skills, real collaboration, real credibility.”
That’s the message from Matt Ramsbottom, head of the Oldham Chronicle and Credible Media, as plans are unveiled for a new creative hub at Oldham Edge.
The project will create a “credible learning community”, giving young people and amateur creatives a space to grow, build confidence and develop their talent in a supportive, real-world environment.
Matt, who started his career as a DJ at Jilly’s Rockworld before moving into senior roles in commercial radio, says the initiative brings together over 30 years of industry experience along with his work as a qualified youth worker.
The hub will focus on small, collaborative groups, encouraging individuality rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, while promoting respect for people, ideas and the creative space itself.
Plans also include a dedicated team and working with like-minded partners to deliver events, workshops and collaborations across Oldham.
“It’s about creating an environment where people feel supported, confident and proud of what they create.”
Further details, including team opportunities, partnerships and how to get involved, will be released online in the coming weeks as the project moves towards launch.
