Simply 'Outstanding' - Hollinwood Academy is tops!

Date published: 05 September 2018

Staff and pupils at Hollinwood Academy, part of the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust in Oldham, have been celebrating the outcome of their first Ofsted inspection.

The report, revealed to parents today (Wednesday), found the school to be ‘Outstanding’ in all areas.

Hollinwood Academy opened three years ago to support children and young people on the Autistic Continuum and/or with significant communication and interaction difficulties from the age of four up to 19, the first school of its kind in Oldham.

Starting with just 50 children in September, 2015, the school has developed and grown, providing children with the opportunity to overcome their barriers to learning and make excellent progress, not just academically but throughout their personal development.

Families have been very supportive of Hollinwood Academy and the school has built an excellent reputation for enabling children to flourish as they grow in confidence and self-esteem, leading to the school currently being heavily oversubscribed.

Everyone involved with the school is thrilled that Ofsted has recognised the outstanding progress that the children are able to make with the support of their fantastic staff team and a curriculum that is skilfully tailored to their abilities, talents and aspirations.

Hollinwood Academy is proud to have high expectations for all pupils with the belief that they can make excellent progress academically and gain effective social and communication skills, given the right support.

Laura Millard, Acting Head of School while Jaina Walton is on maternity leave, said: “I am immensely proud of what we have achieved with the support of our families and staff since we opened our doors to the first pupils in September 2015.

"Our ‘Outstanding’ status is a tremendous achievement and one that Hollinwood Academy truly deserves - I have always known that our school has outstanding pupils, outstanding families and outstanding staff and I am thrilled that the inspectors have recognised the hard work, commitment and dedication that is shown here daily.

"I can't wait to see what our amazing young people will achieve next!”
