Oasis Academy Oldham invites community to celebrate record GCSE success at Open Evening

Date published: 21 September 2025

Oasis Academy Oldham is celebrating its strongest-ever GCSE results, positioning itself as one of the borough’s top-performing secondary schools, following a year where Oldham’s overall attainment slightly lagged behind the national average.

According to government data, in 2024 55.1% of Oldham pupils achieved five or more GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths - just below the national average of 55.8%.

This year, Oasis Academy Oldham saw huge improvements, with GCSEs at grades 4 or above increasing to almost 60% (increasing from 51% to 59%) and grades 5 or above to a third (increasing from 28% to 32%).

Achieving standout individual results over the summer was Mohammed, who secured eight grade 9s and one grade 8, and Siraj who earned five grade 9s, two grade 8s and three grade 7s.

Commenting on his results in August, Mohammed said: “I’m really pleased and looking forward to studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths.

"I hope to study medicine at university in the future.”

To mark this achievement, the academy is looking forward to sharing more details on their strengthening attainment during its annual Open Evening tomorrow (Wednesday, September 24, 3–6pm), at its Hollins Road campus.

Prospective students and local families will have the opportunity to meet staff and students, tour the facilities, and learn more about the academy’s inclusive and ambitious curriculum.

Looking forward to the evening, Principal Tariq Mahmood said: “We’re incredibly proud of our students’ achievements, especially in a year where the regional picture shows challenges remain.

"Our results reflect the hard work of our students and the unwavering support of our staff and families.

"We’re excited to welcome the community to see how we nurture talent and ambition every day, working to create a community of choices and chances in Oldham.”

The Open Evening will also showcase the academy’s broad curriculum and enrichment programmes, including partnerships with Debate Mate, Oldham Music Service, and the Manchester Universities Confucius Institute.

Families can also learn about the academy’s pastoral care and character development ethos, which supports students to become confident, respectful and community-minded individuals.

Oldham residents interested in attending the Open Evening are encourage to go along or email: transition.team@oasisoldham.org if they have any questions.
