CARING staff at a town centre cafe who go "above and beyond" to look after their customers have received not one, but three Pride in Oldham award nominations.
Martha Want (43) and Kim Shaw (24) are rightly popular with regulars at Diana's Sandwich Bar on Tommyfield Market.
Mike Holderness (70) from Holts was one of the people who nominated the pair and said: "They are bloody marvellous. There is never any quibbling or moaning and they are always friendly and cheerful no matter what time of day.
"They have always got a smile. I come here six days a week and I just feel comfortable and at home."
Another was Janet Palmer (53) from Boundary Park who says that the duo really look after their elderly customers and know all their orders.
"They are just wonderful girls. They go above and beyond and it is like a family," she explained.
"Martha was taking her grandson to nursery when she saw one of her customers who was unwell and stayed with her until the ambulance arrived."
And Sharon Brierly (57) from Oldham added: "They are so helpful and nothing is too much for them. They go out of their way for you."
Surprised by the nomination, Martha said: "I am a bit overwhelmed - I don't know whether to cry.
"It's the customers that make our day. They are like family."
Kim added: "I am a bit shocked to be nominated. It's a nice gesture."
