The sports department at University Campus Oldham will host its first coaching conference based on the developing areas of strength and conditioning.

The one-day event will take place at UCO on University Way, on Tuesday, June 19.

The conference will run from 10am – 3pm in the lecture theatre at UCO, and cover a range of topics to support the development and employability of the sports coach.

This will include a practical element as well as workshops and seminars.

Sports Coaching course leader Valerie Ritchie-Littler said: “The aim of the conference is showcase to future and current coaches that they need to have a wider knowledge and understanding base.

“A degree in sports provides a great basis on which to build a career in the sports industry, as well as giving you highly transferable business and management skills.”

The presenters at the inaugural UCO Sports Conference will be Olympic weightlifting specialist Adam Travis and nutritional therapist Samantha Franklin - they are coaches and owners of the Triple X Performance Centre, which is  based in Stalybridge.

If you have a love of sport and want to help others get the most out of their abilities and talents, then the Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching at UCO, which combines formal learning with practical application, is ideal for you.

You will learn the skills needed to become an inspiring, motivating coach as well as how to design training programmes and analyse performance.

Attending UCO Sports’ Strength and Conditioning Sports Conference on June 19 will give you the opportunity to take the next step in your coaching career.
