Hart's double sees off Crewe

A crowd of almost 800 were inside Boundary Park last night (Tuesday) to watch Latics beat League One Crewe 2-1 in their final pre-season friendly fixture.

Full-back Sam Hart notched both Latics goals.

Latics boss Keith Curle fielded a strong team, with newly-appointed player/coach Alan Sheehan making an appearance in an Oldham shirt for the first-time since 2009.

The hosts broke the deadlock as Nicky Adams raced down the right flank before producing a delicious cross towards fellow full-bac Hart at the back post, and the 24-year-old managed to steer his header into the far corner.

David Artell’s Alex side pulled themselves level as Charlie Kirk fired the ball into the top corner.

However, Latics regained their advantage with a carbon copy of their first goal.

Adams again delivered a cross from the right-hand side which was met by the onrushing Hart, and the left-back volleyed accurately into the far corner,
