Latics return to League Two action on Saturday when they host Harrogate Town
Latics were beaten 3-2 by Leeds United's talented under-21s in the Papa John's Trophy group stage at Boundary Park last night (Tuesday).
The hosts had their moments over the course of the 90 minutes, but Crysencio Summerville’s first-half penalty and two own goals saw Leeds prevail.
Latics' goals came from Zak Dearnley and Davis Keillor-Dunn, with his second in as many games.
Leeds’ win means that they now have three points in the Trophy Northern Group B, along with Tranmere Rovers and Latics.
Boss Keith Curle said: "The over-riding factor is we didn’t do the basics well.
"Some of our decision making was poor, and some of the things that we’ve highlighted that we want them to work on individually showed there is still work to be done."
