ONE way or another, a street sign stopped a runaway car from ploughing into a town centre shop window yesterday.
The two-metre high one-way sign was left leaning over at 45 degrees after the unmanned car rolled down the hill on Horsedge Street, across Yorkshire Street and was heading for the window of the second-hand shop on the corner.
An employee at nearby barber shop Slik Kutz said: "The driver of a car parked on the hill had left his handbrake off and the car rolled down the hill into the post."
The vehicle had originally been parked on Horsedge Street before it rolled down the hill.
