A NEW town centre restaurant is ensuring 'buonissimo' Italian fare continues to be served in Yorkshire Street following the closure of Oldham institution Mario's Restaurant.
Stocco Restaurant is situated on the site of the long-serving Mario's restaurant, which closed its doors three months ago following 35 years in business.
The new venture is run by joint owners and business partners Ben Govori and Michele Lorizo, who held a special opening event last night.
In attendance were local dignitaries who enjoyed Italian food and drink in the refurbished restaurant which officially opens today.
Ben Govori said: "We are thrilled to open Stocco in Yorkshire Street and to offer a modern Italian menu.
"Mario Andreotti, the owner of Mario's, wished us good luck with the restaurant and also thanked all of his loyal customers for their support over the years."
