Magnet Man the star attraction

MAGNET by name, magnet by nature —the international headliner pulled in the crowds.
Platinum award winning singer/songwriter, Magnet Man, wowed the thousands of people who piled on to the carnival field with a mid-afternoon appearance on the big stage on both days.
Backed by his live band, the star, from Barbados, chose Alexandra Park and what has been dubbed The People’s Carnival, for the second date in his “Ready to Fly” UK summer tour.
And it meant locals got the chance to hear him perform live his new ragga-rock song, “Ready to Fly” — hotly tipped as a summer anthem for 2009 — and all for free.
The Eskape to Musik stage offered a platform for performers to show their talents throughout the weekend from noon until early evening.
It gave local live performers the chance to share the stage with international acts, with another Caribbean act Da Maniacs and XY raising the beat and the temperature.
Other performers included the Bunghill Beats, Act One, DJ MixMaster and Leigh O’Donnell, Anvy Crew, The Waterheads, Bollywood v Hollywood and 5ft Fez to name but a few.
