OLDHAM-BASED toy supplier Character Options has secured distribution rights to two of the top-12 Christmas toys.
Go Go Pets, cute hamsters which retail at £9.99, and Princess Peppa’s Palace, on sale at £39.99, are among the toys most likely to fly off the shelves this Christmas, according to the retailers’ professional body.
The toys, distributed through Toy Options at the Leesbrook Mill, Lees, are among 12 highlighted by the Toy Retailers’ Association (TRA) as one of their Dream Dozen for 2009.
TRA chairman Gary Grant said the industry had turned the latest trends into innovative toys for Christmas, adding: “The list also reveals a trend towards nostalgic characters and brands which have been updated. Consumers are reverting to heritage brands which will last longer than the Christmas season.”
The Dream Dozen includes Monopoly City, a modern–take on the traditional boardgame, and a multimedia digital camera.
