Scouts, 12, in street attack
Date published: 16 July 2010
A boy on his way to scouts was attacked when he and a friend were told to hand over their money and phones.
The youngsters, both aged 12, were walking along Burnley Lane, near St Matthew’s Church, Chadderton, on Wednesday evening when they were approached by two Asian boys.
Both were around 15 and over 5ft 6ins tall. They were riding bikes — one a white BMX and the other a multi-coloured mountain bike.
When they asked the younger boys for money, and told them to turn out their pockets, one hesitated and was hit across the face.
When the boys said they had no money or phones, their attackers rode off laughing.
Police were called and took the assaulted boy home. No-one has been arrested and inquiries are continuing.
