Chadderton’s new Wellbeing Centre is in line for a top national building award.
The centre, in Burnley Street, is one of four designs from the North-West shortlisted in the 2010 final of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ awards. The winners will be announced on Friday at the Guildhall in London.
Chadderton Wellbeing Centre, which opened in November, was selected in the sustainability category for its innovative combined heat and power unit which uses waste product bio-oil — such as local waste cooking oil — to provide a minimum of 70 per cent of the building’s electricity and heating requirements.
