AT THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY

Date published: 09 May 2011

Local Newspaper Week
THIS week is Local Newspaper Week and over the next five nights we will be looking at all aspects of the Chronicle’s place at the heart of the community.

And while the printed word is still very much at the core of the Chronicle’s impact on the borough and its people, the digital age means that the Chronicle’s stories can now be accessed in many other different forms.

The full electronic edition of the newspaper — the EChron — is available by subscription and allows you to view the whole newspaper exactly as it is published. EChron readers can examine the newspaper from front to back — and even turn the pages on-screen! You can also save any page digitally to email to relatives and friends abroad.

A whole year of subscription costs only £50 plus VAT while you can also sign up for shorter periods if you wish: a month for £7.20 (£6 plus VAT), three months for £20.40 (£17 plus VAT) or six months for £36 (£30 plus VAT).

You get full access to the day’s newspaper at 1.30pm on the Chronicle website — www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk.

The website also carries some of the Chronicle’s news and feature output later that day — and we now have “hyperlocal” portals for the Oldham districts of Chadderton, Failsworth, Royton, Shaw and saddleworth via our Extra digital editions.

Just go to the Extras buttons on the left-hand side of the home page under the local news tab.

Advertisers too are seeing the benefit of the hyperlocal sites as they can target viewers within specific areas of the borough.

Contact Sam Morris on 0161 622 2176, of our New Media sales team, for more information and some great deals.
