RESULTS day was extra nerve-racking for one Oldham pupil - who opened her GCSE results watched by millions of people on national TV.

But Hulme Grammar School’s Naomi Higginson didn’t need to worry as she scooped six A*s and 4As — and could now top them off with a number 1 hit.

The talented 16 year old received her results on ITV’s “Daybreak” programme at 6.20am.

She releases her first single on Sunday after composing “With You” in 30 minutes as part of her music GCSE.

It helped her to get an A grade — and also impressed talent scouts when she posted it online.

Naomi, who lives in New Moston with her parents, Alan and Vanessa, brother Adam (20) and eight-year-old sister Natasha. started writing music when she was 13

She has also been interviewed by Granada TV and BBC Radio Manchester and said: “I had to be up at 4am to be in the ‘Daybreak’ studio at 6am. It was very nerve-wracking opening my results but they were okay so it was good in the end.”

Naomi, starts her A-levels in English literature, maths, chemistry and physics at Hulme in September.

But despite “With You” getting national attention, she isn’t doing music at A-levl.

‘I prefer doing it as something I enjoy for fun.”
