Party bangers!

Date published: 11 December 2012

CHRISTMAS dinner with all the trimmings can now be rustled up in record time — thanks to a pair of inventive butchers.

Higginshaw’s Heather and James Taylor have taken the stress out of Christmas dinner with “Santa’s Sizzlers” - sausages containing everything needed for a seasonal feast, but without the hours of slaving over a hot stove.

Each sausage is filled with smoky bacon, sprouts, chestnuts and sausage meat. The bangers have proved so popular the couple sell thousands a week from their market stall, Bobby’s Bangers.

Heather (42) said: “We do a lot of wacky sausages but these have been really popular.

“You can taste each ingredient quite clearly. People seem to really love them - even people who say they don’t like sprouts!”

Each batch of 250 sausages takes around an hour to make, at the couple’s base on Higginshaw Lane, and they are sold from markets including Royton, Ashton and Stalybridge. They have even had requests from as far away as Spain, Rome and Germany.

James (32), said: “I think it’s because they’re a bit different.”

The stalls sell other flavours too - including a mince pie sausage (with whisky, dried fruit and spices); a full English breakfast sausage (with black pudding, bacon, mushrooms, beans and tomatoes) and a madras curry sizzler and a Welsh Dragon banger with chillies and leeks.

The couple sells around 12,500 sausages a week.
