Date published: 23 January 2015
ARSONISTS turned a car into a ball of flame last night as it rolled out of control down a street in Oldham town centre.
The car’s fuel tank burst at around 7.45pm: as firefighters approached its handbrake failed and the car began to roll down Beever Street in flames.
The car hit a fire engine before stopping against concrete blocks on Beever Street.
Phil Courtnell of Oldham Fire Station saidit was incredibly fortunate no-one was hurt: “This all happened within a minute of us being there. This would have been an incredibly serious incident if anyone was around.”
