Family tribute sparks appeal

POLICE have made a renewed appeal for witnesses just as the grieving family of a much-loved great-grandmother who died in an horrific road accident spoke of their painful loss.
“Fit and healthy” Margaret Moscrop (85) lost her life when she was hit by a lorry while crossing Broadway in Chadderton.
PC John Durham, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Greater Manchester Police, said: “The accident is a mystery at the moment as Margaret was a very independent and capable woman much younger than her years imply.”
The accident happened at the junction of Broadway and Broadgate at 12.15pm on Friday, March 6.
Distraught daughter Julie said: “Mum was a fit and healthy lady who loved walking and the outdoors.
Proud
“She lived in Chadderton most of her life and always managed to meet and chat to someone she knew whenever she was out and about.
“She was a very proud mum, nan and great-grandmother to Julie, Jemma and Lucy and will be sadly missed and fondly remembered forever.”
PC Durham added: “The police and the family would appreciate any information from witnesses who may have seen Margaret that morning.”
Anyone with information should call 0161-856 4741.
