DILAPIDATED . . . the garage is in a very poor state of repair following arson attacks
ROTTING window frames, a fridge freezer and an old steering wheel are just some of the items causing misery for fed-up Coppice residents.
Piles of rubbish have been dumped in and around a dilapidated garage behind Oriel Avenue — and residents say they have been complaining about the tipping for the past 18 months.
The council says the land is owned by a private landlord, so it has limited powers.
Sikander Riaz, who lives close to the garage, said: “Unfortunately these alleyways attract local unemployed youths, who have taken to setting fires. The garage has become a magnet for fly-tipping.”
Helen Lockwood, executive director for co-operatives and neighbourhoods, said the council is using its powers to remove the rubbish added recently.”
