A TALENTED teenager from Royton has danced her way to victory in a national competition.
Sixth-former Emily McGowan saw off 12 other competitors in the region to win the national Latin dance competition at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens. Fellow student Shannon Royal (18), came second.
Emily (17), who is studying dance, psychology, English language and English literature, has been dancing for 14 years.
She said: “I love taking part in dance competitions, but never dreamed I’d come first out of all those people. Our dance teacher, Gabs Hill, is very supportive and is always there to help.”
Gabs said: “It is fantastic to hear how well they have done in such a prestigious competition, against girls much older.”
