Brick yobs target sixth tram
Date published: 24 July 2015
A SIXTH tram in three days was withdrawn from the Oldham Metrolink line yesterday after a brick attack.
The vehicle was cleared at Hollinwood after a brick had been hurled at a window in Failsworth.
Four trams were taken off the service on Tuesday after separate attacks on the line between Failsworth and South Chadderton. A day later another tram was taken out of service after bricks were thrown, smashing windows and showering passengers with glass.
Metrolink chiefs have vowed to crack down on the vandalism and are working with police following the string of attacks on the Ashton to Rochdale line, which calls at 10 stops across Oldham.
