Tram yobs could be as young as 10

VANDALS responsible for a spate of vandalism against Metrolink trams could be as young as 10.
Several incidents were reported to police all last week after missiles were hurled at passing trams between Failsworth and Hollinwood and windows smashed. Passengers were left terrified and drivers were reportedly “too scared to work”.
Officers have described the culprits as schoolchildren aged 10-13. Patrols have been stepped up in the area to prevent further incidents.
Sergeant Mark Pattinson, from Oldham Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are taking this spate of incidents seriously and are keen to identify the group of youngsters we believe are responsible. It’s only down to luck that no-one has been injured.
“The majority of incidents have taken place near to the Failsworth stop and we are appealing for anyone that may have seen kids hanging around near to the tram lines, or around the bridge that runs over the canal, to get in touch with us.”
Anyone with information can contact Oldham neighbourhood police on 0161-856 8825 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
