Firefighters clean up after the Shaw fast-food blaze
HOUSES and shops were evacuated last night when a fire swept through a Shaw takeaway shop.
Grease in a cooking range ignited at Yummy Fried Chicken in Rochdale Road, and the fire spread to both floors. Staff escaped unharmed and two neighbouring houses in Collinge Street and three shops in Rochdale Road were evacuated.
Firefighters had the fire under control within minutes, but part of the road was closed for two hours as debris was cleared. The takeaway had only recently been refurbished.
