Beehive After School Club - raided by thieves
HEARTBROKEN children have issued an emotional plea for help after thieves stole games consoles and a TV they saved for a year to buy.
When staff returned to the Beehive Children’s Club - part of St Margaret’s Primary School, Hollinwood – to prepare for the new term, they found the centre had been ransacked.
Thieves had taken £1,000 worth of equipment, including PlayStation consoles, a 24in TV, craft materials, a wall safe, books, Vetech laptops and even coffee and butter from the fridge.
Joanne McGinn, who runs the club for around 20 children, said: “The children are absolutely devastated. They saved for a year to buy a new TV. When I first walked in I just couldn’t believe it. I felt sick and was so upset for the little children. I can’t understand how somebody can do that.”
Insurance won't pay for the losses because the intruders got in with set of lost keys.
“We don’t have a lot of money, the club pays for itself, it’s independently run and we don’t receive any funding. I’m determined to put the smiles back on their faces and we’re hoping that the goodwill of the community will help us.”
