THE Mayor, Councillor Ateeque Ur-Rehman, cuts the ribbon to an open day at the popular Waterhead growing hub
WATERHEAD’S popular community “growing hub” welcomed the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Ateeque Ur-Rehman, to an open day.
The VIP — Veg In the Park — programme has transformed an overgrown and unused bowling green in Waterhead Park into a spectacular allotment area. The project is helping to conserve Waterhead Park.
As crops in the planting beds continue to grow, VIP is expected to be a source of food for residents, who will also receive information about cooking healthily.
Councillor Ur-Rehman cut the ribbon for the open day and toured the site.
For a £5 a year membership, volunteers are expected to commit to two 90-minute sessions a week.
