A GROUP of young entrepreneurs from Oldham and Mossley are launching an online crowdfunding campaign to raise money for a new biking business, Dirt Factory.
Dirt Factory will be the UK’s first indoor bike park for mountain and BMX bikes. The group is searching for a warehouse or distribution centre to be filled with bike trails, jumps and tracks made from recycled soil and shipping containers. They also intend a café, bike shop, classrooms and space for other businesses or social enterprises.
Dirt Factory’s crowd-funding campaign has been launched through the website Crowdcube.
Supporters can pledge anything from £10 upwards to get a share of the business and investor rewards.
Dan Makin (29), one of the founders and directors of Dirt Factory, grew up in Mossley and was a member of Mossley Cycling Club from the age of 10.
He said: “Getting kids off their phones and computers, having fun together on bikes is something we see as a big priority. We’re very excited to be launching this campaign. Now’s the time for people to get behind the project and help get the wheels in motion.”
The funding campaign will run online until the end of February at dirtfactory.org/crowdfund-campaign.
