A CHADDERTON woman has gone from using a wheelchair to now being able to go swimming, thanks to her local Slimming World group.
Hayley Goulden (31) piled on weight due to a lack of mobility caused by osteoarthritis in her knee.
She joined the group at the Crossley Centre, in Denton Lane, when it launched 13 weeks ago and has already lost two stones.
She said: "When I joined I actually joined in a wheelchair following surgery. I was so fed up with the way I looked and felt about myself, so I decided to join Jay's group.
"In that time I have lost two stone and feel so much happier and confident.
"I am more mobile and I now go swimming, aquasize and walking the dog every day, which I couldn't do before."
Hayley likes that she can still eat the food she loves and enjoys the supportive environment at the Chadderton group.
She said: "You get so much support and motivation off everyone and we all share tips and recipes, we are all there for the same thing and that's to lose weight - it's great.
"We have such a laugh it's really a good social occasion."
Jay Hughes, who runs the group, added: "I'm so proud of Hayley and all my members. They are doing so well on their weight loss journeys, the help and support they offer each other every week is so inspiring."
A second group started on Tuesday. For more information on joining, call Jay on 07971 194060.
