OLDHAM Netball Club vice-captain Rachel Henry is used to competing at the Manchester Thunderdome — just not as a visiting player.
Now captaining Superleague team Loughborough Lightning, Henry returns to face former club Manchester Thunder on Saturday.
“The game will be a challenge for me, but I am looking forward to it,” said Henry. “I am good friends with their players, but for 60 minutes I am going to have to forget about that.”
In her first season with the club, Oldhamer Henry (26) was shocked to be named captain: “The appointment took me a little by surprise,” she said. “My main focus had been ensuring I was performing on the court.”
Henry, who spent six years at Thunder, was vice-captain for England at under-17s and under-19s level.
