Making a real difference . . .

Since leaving school I have worked in the customer care department of three companies, becoming office manager at the company I have worked for since 1999.

Through these roles I have achieved a wealth of experience in dealing both with colleagues and customers. I am fair minded and often manage to provide solutions to problems that all parties are happy with. I am currently a student nurse; I have two children aged 10 and 12 and understand the importance of balancing a busy home and work life.

Making a difference to the lives of others was my main inspiration to become interested in politics. My decision to get involved came about because I was disillusioned by the way the country appeared to be heading. Here are the policies (in brief) I would aim to introduce if elected.

CRIME: Enable voters to set policing priorities through locally-elected County Police Boards. Demand zero tolerance on crime and double prison places to assure this. Make sentences mean what they say: life must mean life.

HEALTHCARE: Keep the NHS free at the point of delivery and make no cuts to frontline services Replace overlapping tiers of NHS bureaucracy (SHAs/PCTs) with locally-elected County Health Boards. Introduce private sector ‘franchise partnerships’ to run NHS healthcare services better, while assets remain in public hands

DEFENCE: Boost the military budget by 40 per cent so our armed forces are properly equipped. Demand one clear achievable mission for Afghanistan or seek a negotiated exit. Keep Britain’s independent nuclear deterrent strong.

EDUCATION: Bring back the ‘three Rs’ and teach reading with phonics to provide a proper educational foundation. Encourage the creation of new grammar schools, but make the 11-plus vocational as well as academic Give parents ‘School Vouchers’ so they can choose between schools - state or private

IMMIGRATION: End uncontrolled mass immigration. Introduce an immediate five-year freeze on immigration for permanent settlement. Regain control of Britain’s borders to stop foreign criminals from entering our country.

ECONOMY: Save up to £120bn a year by leaving the EU. No British jobs or trade will be lost. Take tax off the minimum wage by raising the tax threshold to £11,500. Reduce everyone’s taxes with a 31 per cent flat tax. I am asking you to vote for me as a change to the professional politicians we normally see in government, who are far removed from the electorate and so far seem to be interested only in feathering their own nests and doing less and less to represent our views. I am not a politician I am a straight talking individual who wants to take your views into Westminster and represent you the electorate. I believe that politics should be about making a difference to the lives of the people you represent, not about making a living far and beyond the reach of most of us.
