The Komayaka Karate Club was established in January, 2007. The style of Karate practised is Shukokai, which Sensei Garry Lewis has trained in for the last 27 years. He is a 5th Dan black belt, Association Regional Referee, Association Dan Grade Examiner and a level 3 coaching instructor.
The club is registered with the United Kingdom All Styles Karate Organisation and also affliated to the English Karate Federation, which is the official governing body for English Karate.
Classes are for anyone above the age of seven. Both classes currently have a mixed ability level of students (from white to brown belts), and the club also has a varied mix of male and female students of mixed age groups. Costs are a yearly £20 registration/membership fee and a flat fee of £4 per lesson.
We welcome anyone interested first to come and watch a session and see if it's for them. No Karate Gi is required until a student's first grading.
