Intrepid fundraiser extraordinaire and Shaw school teacher Steve Hill has added another significant string to his bow.

Inspirational teacher Steve has accepted an invitation to join the International Board of Trustees for the Uganda Marathon - a non-profit social enterprise and Uganda’s largest ever public fundraising event.

He will become the the Chairman of the Board.

His term of office will last for a period of three years, after which he may be reappointed for a period not exceeding two additional terms - each of two years.

Previously Steve became the only person to run FIVE Ugandan Marathons.

He continues to raise money for a number of community projects, as well as checking in on projects that the Team Hill Charitable Trust has been funding since 2019.

In Steve's latest role appointment letter from Moses Kigozi from the Uganda Marathon, the Founding Director said: "We have seen your great impact in the community; we have known you as a man of integrity, honesty, inspiration, kindness, enthusiasm, and love for others.

"Uganda has noticed your tireless efforts, and inherent motivation to make a difference to the lives of children, young people, women and others in need.

"I am sure you will bring the same and additional skills to the board.

"As Chairman of the international team, your guidance is critical to the continued growth and success of the Uganda Marathon.

"You will lead a multi-disciplinary team from across the world, and I am sure you are the best person to lead us through the challenges that lie ahead."

Steve, the deputy headteacher at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Shaw, recently returned from completing his latest epic marathon challenge.

He ran 14 charity marathons, starting with seven in Costa Rica (running from the Pacific Coast to the Caribbean Coast) through numerous jungles, where he encountering snakes, spiders, ants and even crocodiles!

He then flew to Tajikistan in the Eastern Hemisphere and ran seven more marathons across the country from the Afghanistan border to the China border along the Silk Road through the Bartang Valley.
