FIRST-HALF goals from strike pair Billy Mckay and Lee Erwin landed Athletic a victory in their Checkatrade Trophy Group 'D' outing.

Mckay netted in the 32nd minute, placing a shot home after good work in the build-up from Ryan Flynn.

Six minutes later, Erwin shaped home a powerful left-footed effort to defeat Cod Army goalkeeper Chris Neal.

Mckay also hit a post in the first half and Cameron Burgess did likewise after the break, with goalkeeper Connor Ripley only forced into one save of note late on to deny Martyn Woolford.
