GOAL . . . Lee Erwin netted his third of the season
ATHLETIC 2, SCUNTHORPE 0
GOALS from Freddie Ladapo and Lee Erwin late in the first half gave Athletic a deserved victory over the league leaders.
Ladapo spun to fire in a low left-footed shot on 42 minutes to cap a flowing team move.
Erwin then doubled the lead three minutes later, beating his man cleverly and shaping home a curling right-footed effort inside the near post as Stephen Robinson's men won for the first time on home soil this season.
Athletic had to do plenty of defending in the second half, though Scunthorpe never seriously tested Connor Ripley, while at the other end Ryan Flynn forced a diving stop from Joe Anyon in the visitors' goal and also hit another effort over the crossbar when well-placed.
