ATHLETIC will travel to Mansfield in the last 16 of the Checkatrade Trophy, should they win at Walsall on Tuesday.
The draw means that in the event of seeing off the Saddlers at the Banks's Stadium, Athletic will face a test at a Sky Bet League Two club currently managed by Steve Evans – the man who turned down the chance to become manager at SportsDirect.com Park during the summer.
The Stags are currently stationed 14th in the table. Third-round ties take place the week commencing Monday, January 9.
