JOHN SHERIDAN
JOHN Sheridan has been appointed as Athletic's new manager.
The club announced the change this afternoon, along with the news that previous boss Stephen Robinson has been fired.
Sheridan was recently fired by League Two club Notts County after a club record nine straight defeats, but he had great success in saving Athletic from relegation last season.
It is the third time Sheridan (52) has been given the full-time job at the club, along with two spells as a caretaker.
He takes over with Athletic under a player embargo and at the bottom of Sky Bet League One with three wins all season.
A statement by chairman Simon Corney read: “This is obviously a difficult decision. Stephen is a talented coach who we believed could make the transition into a successful manager.
“Unfortunately things have not worked out for him or the club and we felt that a change needed to be made.
“I'd like to thank Stephen for the hard work and commitment he has shown and wish him well for the future.
"John is obviously someone we know well and we hope he can have an immediate effect on our current situation.”
There is as yet no news on the future of Robinson's backroom staff.
