OLDHAM-BORN Chris Taylor has been honoured by Athletic for his work away from football.
Oldham Athletic Community Trust named Taylor as their player of the year for his contribution to schools activities, work with young people and other local events.
Trust spokesman Colin Moore said: “The words and actions of the players can have a positive impact on young people’s lives.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks to Chris Taylor and all the playing and management staff for their commitment to supporting our activities.”
ATHLETIC’S youth team had a disappointing weekend as they slipped to defeat against 10-man Rochdale.
An own goal gave Tony Philliskirk’s side the lead, but they didn’t utilise their extra player as a series of chances were missed.
Rochdale equalised three minutes from time and snatched the winner when they broke out from an Athletic corner.
