JOHN SHERIDAN has revealed his disappointment with Athletic’s draw for the FA Cup first round.

Sheridan will take his side to play League One rivals Cheltenham, managed by Martin Allen (pictured), on Saturday week.

He said: “Out of 80 teams in the draw, Cheltenham were probably one of the three we didn’t want.

“It isn’t a great tie and I would have preferred something at home to make things easier, but it’s what we’ll have to deal with.

“Martin Allen has got them playing a certain way and it will be difficult, but it’s also a game we can win, no danger.

“Hopefully we’ll beat them at the first attempt and have a decent run. The cup is important financially, but there’s also the excitement of being in the draw for the next round.”

Athletic faced League One opposition at the same stage last year, beating Doncaster 2-1 in a replay at the Keepmoat Stadium.

They then eased past Crewe with a goal from Lee Hughes before pulling off their famous round-three victory at Everton. The run ended at home to Huddersfield.
