CHRIS O’GRADY . . . still eligible to play in the FA Cup for Athletic.
ATHLETIC manager John Sheridan has admitted his team are a constant source of frustration – but told supporters he shares their pain.
Already this term there have been memorable victories against the likes of Scunthorpe and Leeds, but some of Athletic’s defeats have stemmed from days to forget.
Sheridan said: “I feel sorry for the fans because they must be very up and down at the moment, like I am as manager.
“I think a lot of people believe we can do well this season, and I’m glad they do, but they are frustrated with one or two results.
“I understand it when people say things they don’t really mean, but hopefully they will stick with us.
“I’ve been here for a long time myself – I’m a fan who wants to do well for the club, so I know how they feel.”
CRAIG DAVIES hit his first goal for Stockport to earn them a 1-1 draw at Yeovil in the FA Cup.
It was also a first goal in nine months for the striker, who suffered a hamstring tear in February, made only one more appearance last season and hadn’t found the net this term before joining County.
Davies, whose loan deal runs until January, is now ineligible to play for Athletic in this season’s FA Cup.
The same goes for JP Kalala and John Thompson, who have featured for Grimsby and Notts County respectively.
However, Athletic informed Bury that they didn’t want Chris O’Grady to be cup-tied.
O’Grady’s one-month loan spell at Gigg Lane is set to end next week.
ADMISSION to Athletic’s game at Northampton on Saturday is £19 (adults), £15 (over-60s), £12 (under-16s) or £6 (under-16s accompanied by an adult).
Normal league admission prices will apply to the FA Cup replay against Cheltenham at Boundary Park next Tuesday.
BOOKINGS are now being taken for the Boundary Blues Christmas party on December 1 at Crompton and Royton Golf Club.
John Sheridan and his players will be in attendance and tickets cost £6 for members or £7.50 for non-members, with food included.
