FLAT OUT FOR SUCCESS . . . Chris Taylor displays his trademark will to win for Latics.
THE most talked about player at Boundary Park this season is also running away with the Chronicle’s Star Man award.
With 23 league and cup games gone, left-winger Chris Taylor has earned double the honours of his nearest rival.
The Chronicle names a man of the match for every game, and the player with most nominations at the end of the season receives £600 for a good cause of their choice, courtesy of the sponsors, Leesfield Developments.
Taylor, who is earning praise from all sides for his tremendous form, has so far scooped six awards.
Captain Sean Gregan comes next, while last term’s Star Man winner, Mark Allott, is among the chasing pack.
Awards have gone to: Chris Taylor – 6; Sean Gregan – 3; Lee Hughes, Mark Allott, Danny Jones, Mark Crossley, Danny Whitaker – 2; Andy Liddell, Reuben Hazell, Deane Smalley, Lewis Alessandra – 1.
n A SPORTS memorabilia fair is being held at Boundary Park before Saturday’s game against Brighton.
It will be staged in the Corner Flag suite from 11.30am and anyone interested in selling should contact Richard Attwood on 07590 696973 or via richard.attwood@marshalls.co.uk.
YOUNGSTER Josh Bell has gained two new fans overseas after a chance meeting in the club car park.
Athletic steward Alan Miller introduced Bell to his grandsons Marcus (8) and Charlie (5), and the goalkeeper presented them with a pair of gloves each.
Marcus and Charlie live in Sweden, but they were born in Oldham and watch games at Boundary Park whenever they are over to see family.
Alan said: “The lads were really chuffed and went home happy. It was a nice thing for Josh to do.”
A 32-PAGE brochure is set to be released detailing all the work of Athletic’s Community Trust.
It will be available at Boundary Park from next month and is also being distributed to local schools and colleges and through Oldham Community Leisure.
