Ryan to rescue

THERE was a dramatic finish to Athletic’s 1-1 draw at Bury in the North-West Conference of the Puma Youth Alliance.

It looked as though Bury had snatched victory when they took an 87th-minute lead.

But Athletic were quickly on level terms when Ryan Brooke scored from a quickly-taken free-kick by Chris Rowney.

Athletic might even have taken all three points as Tom Eaves had a great chance to secure a win in stoppage time.

Athletic played well on a heavy pitch, but had to abandon their preferred passing game in favour of a more direct style.
