ATHLETIC’S youngsters were beaten 2-1 by Bradford City in a friendly at Chapel Road.

After falling behind, Athletic equalised within 30 seconds with a goal from Ryan Brooke which followed a fine break down the left by Philip McGrath.

Athletic dominated the second half – in which most of their players were aged 15 or 16 – but could not take the chances they created.

Bradford scrambled a winner with 10 minutes left and, to add further misery, Athletic lost striker Tom Eaves with damaged ankle ligaments.

THE search is on for an Athletic fan who has won a signed shirt.

When Athletic’s players signed copies of the club’s calendar at Spindles, everybody who made a purchase was entered into a draw for the autographed shirt.

It has yet to be claimed and the person holding the white ticket numbered 24 is asked to come forward.

ATHLETIC are going to the dogs . . . but, happily, nothing untoward is going on at Boundary Park.

The club have organised a night out at Belle Vue greyhound track on Tuesday, February 24.

Goalkeeper Mark Crossley, as the club’s greyhound specialist, will be on hand to give tips and a number of other players will also be there.

The cost is £15 and includes coach travel from Boundary Park, a three-course meal, racecard and one free drink.

Bookings can be made by ringing 0871 226 2235.
