Dean Windass: staying put
ATHLETIC have dismissed a report claiming on-loan striker Dean Windass is about to be recalled by Hull City to help them in their bid for Premier League survival.
Chief-executive Alan Hardy says it is not possible for the Tigers to recall Windass, who has scored once in nine appearances for the Boundary Park club, as he is on a half-season loan.
Mr Hardy said: “There is no recall clause in the agreement for players on a standard half-season loan which Dean is here on.
“If a player is on a season-long loan, the only time he can be recalled by his parent club is during the January transfer window.”
Windass found himself omitted from Athletic’s 16-strong matchday squad for Saturday’s win at Millwall .
