Too old, too slow so let him go . . .

Date published: 05 March 2009

DEAN WINDASS caused a stir by suggesting he didn’t want to play for Athletic again after being left out of the starting line-up for the last two matches. Latics fans have been quick to respond by letter and e-mail: here’s a selection.

IT’S bad enough John Sheridan making some strange team selections at Athletic without Dean Windass wanting to pick himself for every game.

Windass is only at Boundary Park because he fell out with Hull manager Phil Brown, who could not guarantee a near-40-year-old the regular first-team football he thinks he is still capable of.

In his short time with Athletic it has become clear that Windass still has some nice touches, but it’s about time he realised he simply hasn’t got the ‘legs’ any more.

He says he could have gone to any one of three Championship clubs instead of Athletic. But I’m sure their managers would have quickly arrived at the same conclusion.

Dean, you are a hero on Humberside and have given plenty of other genuine football fans some memorable moments. Please don’t spoil it by becoming an ungrateful big-time-Charlie moaner.

WINDASS wants out - surprise, surprise.

How many more lame-duck ageing strikers does John Sheridan want to add to a list this season which also includes Brett Ormerod, Darren Byfield and Steve Kabba (although it’s early days and fingers crossed).

At the start of the season it seemed Athletic had promising young forward with the likes of Craig Davies and Chris O’Grady adding to home-grown talent like Lewis Alessandra.

Davies and O’Grady have been shipped out and Alessandra, despite a hat-trick against Scunthorpe in October, has hardly had a look-in since.

YOU are too fat and too slow ‘Deano’. Your best game was in the nets. Get on your bike back to Hull.

LIBERTINE

GOOD riddance, he was too slow anyway. One goal in nine games Dean? Come on. You deserved to be dropped.

You were holding Hughes back too. Kabba is twice the player and we look more of a threat now without you.

It’s funny to say, but your only good game came when you went in net!

LAZYBOY

EVER since Dean Windass set foot in the place he’s been in the papers or on TV being negative about the club.

One goal in nine games and he thinks he has a divine right to be in the team? Just because he’s 39!

Look at David Eyres — never moaned, and every time he played he made an impact.

Good riddance Windass.

I THINK Mr Windass thinks he is bigger than the club. If he is as good as he thinks he is, then he would still be in the Hull team and would certainly be in the team at Latics.

Since he has arrived he has looked overweight and played like a donkey with three legs.

I would like to congratulate Latics for better performances the last two games, still room for improvement.

THE Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumer Regulations 2002 apply to guarantees.

Seeing as Mr Windass guaranteed goals when he signed but has since failed to deliver the goods, can Latics not report him to Trading Standards?

If you need a lift back to Hull I will drive you there myself. Good riddance.

BELIEVE YOU ME

DEANO, who do you think you are? One in nine proves you are past it but if you at last make Sheridan realise for the past two years all these loanees (Molango, Clarke, Byfield, Kabba, Ormerod) are no better than our own young lads, such as Alessandra, your pathetic comments will be worthwhile.

Jones apart (who is quality), the reason we are in the top six is we have good players at the club without the loans and if Shez stopped messing about with the team, ie Maher/Whittaker in/out, we would be in the top two!
